Raw Trills- For someone

80s influenced new wave psychedelia outfit Raw Thrills released their debut LP, ‘Gradient’ a while back, check it out here. Sounds sort of like Ariel Pink after one too many coffees. Expect fast-paced drum machines and a carpal tunnel of vintage keys. The video below is for the cut ‘Komiche Traveling with Vampires.’

The usual problem with fuzz pop  is that while it might give something perfectly enjoyable to listen to for a couple of minutes, it tends to lack any valuable direction. Procedure Club are the opposite. Lacking the instant enjoyment of Irish fuzzsters Henparty, they hold the same musical depth and passion of The Sky Drops. Citing the likes of Phil Spector and Beat Happening, the shoegazing influences are much more distinguishable than the music itself, but in a good way.

NOTV fell into existence with a found organ, broken bass guitar, borrowed drum and some old doom poetry. Lucy Cliché executes distorted keyboard melodies, while Matthew P Hopkins plays psyched out bass guitar, which is all kept together with pounding drum machine beats. This is their debut release a self-titled 7″ capturing the spectrum of sound NOTV creates. Side A features the single ‘All Aboard!’ the self-proclaimed dance floor hit, plus the short and sharp ‘God Nor Devil’. L.A.’s E&E blends spacey 80’s synth sounds with soft innocent female vocals. “Gate” featuring
Angie Olson opens with heavenly sounding keyboards blended into a spacy ambience reminisant
of Brian Eno. The intro is followed by a crunchy synth bass-line and a dry funky drum beat. The
vocals follow the bass line on the verse and open up on the chorus. “POLVOLITO” has a steady
pounding cave man beat meshed with a polyphonic synth line. This is the type of song that
would be played during a tribal meeting around a big fire. Download both tracks below.
