Labels pop up every day, but very few can boast a roster that reaches the echelon that Psychic Lunch Records has with just three releases. Psychic Lunch is managed by TX garageheads Skyler Salinas (of Fungi Girls) and Stephanie Lopez, in collaboration with DIY art combo CMRTYZ–part of the reason both their lineup and artwork shred. We spoke with the TX portion of the record label about what’s to come and the label itself.

We were able to talk with Ireland’s Solar Bears about their EP on Planet Mu, their influences and their possible plans for an upcoming tour below.
s.o.t.r.-Can you name some of your influences?
Solar Bears-Between the both of us influences are widespread and vary drastically. For me Bibio, Death in Vegas, Portishead and Broadcast would be what has gotten to me the most over the years. Listening to Mordoer and John Carpenter in my formative years made me interested in electronic music. Rian is a huge fan of XTC and Aphex Twin as well as recently falling in love with the records of Clark.

If you look up the word “God” in the dictionary, there is a picture of Sacramento dreamboat and epic beer-chugger DylDawg. I’ve known DylDawg for years, but have no real concept of him. Despite this, though, I refuse to delve; his mystery is precious, awe-inspiring, totally fucking awesome. He is a bit of an anomaly, but I like that. He talks of Fleetwood Mac and hot bitches. He loves sensitive films like Chocolat but also chuggs vodka out of hollowed-out deer skulls. The man, the myth, the legend: DylDawg. I received the extensive privilege of talking to Sacramento’s biggest teen heart-throb/radio personality/guitar-shredder regarding his epic existence and his fuckin’ radio show, goddamnit.

I have been to a few Here We Go Magic shows, I have listened to their albums and I even consider myself a well-versed fan, but I was not ready for the Wednesday night show that Here We Go Magic brought to Emo’s in Austin Texas. I was fortunate enough to have the chance to interview Luke Temple and Peter Hale before their set (interview can be found below), but little did I know that what they told me would ring so true on stage that night.
