Jasmine_Love_Bomb-From_Last_Summer

The Psychedelic post-punk outfit Jasmine Love Bomb formed in the late 80’s (86′-89′) in Lowell, Massachusetts. At their first rehearsal they broke out into a version of Pink Floyd’s “Astronomy Domian” later realizing they had all knew the song prior. They put out a four song tape in 89′ that was somewhat sucessful winning”Tape Of The Year” in The Bob magazine. Their music has also appeared on the compilations ‘A Psychedelic Psauna’ and ‘Fun With Mushrooms’, both on the Uk label Delerium Records.

Tom and Marty band-I had a dream

The Tom & Marty Band Formed in 1980, and they liked to experiment with early electronic equiptment. They have a rather crude sound infused with spoken word and angry synths. They have described their sound as “Electronic Folk Music” and claim to be inspired by film, love, space, and all the random sounds around them.

Steaming Coils-Lexor Quarter

Stemaing Coils were an L.A. experimental underground group  that started back in 84′ . Their sound is bizarre and spans many styles and influences.  I was searching for the group Vas Deferens Organization and came across Steaming Coils. I recently posted an add on craigslist looking for lost DIY recordings from the 80’s and early 90’s and have had great response with a number of bands sending in their music. Scotty from The Plutonians was the first to respond.  There was’nt much info on the net for the Plutonians, and I had to have Scotty email the photo you see above, making me realize the fact that this music is rather rare and probably hasnt seen the light of day for decades. The small amount of info I was able to rile up is that they were a  trio from Dallas that played from 81′-83′ using influences such as punk, psych, and rock to create their new wave sound. The Plutonians recordings are crafted beautifuly and have a wonderful analog 80’s bootleg feel to them that will take you back in time.  Scotty is continuing to dig up old tracks to convert into digital format, so look for more music to come!!

Band O Fun-Pi Phi

This is for all you weirdos out there who like rare  tape recordings from the 80’s. Bob Chaos Records was a cassette-only label out of Indiana. The label had only 15 releases between 1984-1988 which included strange bands ranging from rock to experimental lo-fi. Instead of letting these tapes deteriorate in a closet somewhere Bob Chaos converted some of his favorite songs into mp3 format for the world to download.
