FOSTER THE PEOPLE VIDEO PREMIERE: “PUMPED UP KICKS”, EP + TOUR DATES

http://www.vimeo.com/19529550

.Last year, Neon Indian gave us Deadbeat Summer that had us excited for those glorious hot days. This year we have been given another summer anthem by the good looking guys of Foster The People, who just released their official video for their single Pumped Up Kicks and who are already getting comparisons to MGMT, Phoenix, and Peter Bjorn and John.

They just released their self titled EP that’s definitely one to be purchased as all three songs are pretty solid tracks. You can buy it for $2.97 on ITunes here.

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 BACK FROM THE DEAD FOR COACHELLA

DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 COACHELLA DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979 BACK FROM THE DEAD FOR COACHELLA

On January 18th the line up for the world famous music festival Coachella was announced and all of the world was abuzz about the set list for all three nights. Interesting enough on the set list for Sunday are not one but two bands who are reunited! The first being The Strokes and the second being DEATH FROM ABOVE 1979, which came as a surprise because from what everyone was last updated on was dead due to artistic differences within the band. Thus, the duo made up of bassist Jesse F. Keeler and drums/vocalist Sebastien Grainger went on to do their own musical projects. Keeler went on to do electronic under the name of MSTRKRFT with DFA 1979’s You’re a Woman, I’m a Machine producer AI-P(Alex Puodziukas) and built a good reputation for themselves with a string of phenomenal remixes and decent albums. Grainger went on to do a solo project Sebastien Grainger & The Mountains and toured for that for a bit and did a stint of electronic music himself in 2010 with Josh Reichmann under the name of Bad Tits. Fans of DFA 1979 moved on from the break up and accepted the solo projects because it helped the healing process just a tad bit. So just like any break up, if there’s going to be a reconciliation, there’s going to be speculation. What does this mean? Are they back together for good or is this just a one time thing that’s just for fun? Are they willing to let go of their past differences and continue to make beautiful music together? Time will only tell. Until then, let’s just take it as it is and hope for the best! We’ve missed you!

GREGORY AND THE HAWK

GREGORY AND THE HAWK GREGORY AND THE HAWK

Actually her name is Meredith Godreau but to avoid being pigeonholed as a female singer/songwriter performs under the name Gregory and The Hawk which was named from her brother and his imaginary childhood hawk. She first garnered popularity on Myspace back in 2006 for her Boats and Birds EP which, just like the artist was unabashedly honest and her vocals cute and sweet. That lead to a full length album, In Your Dreams which then lead to the studio album Moenie and Kitchi with FatCat Records. In November 2010 she released her second studio album Leche and released the first single Olly Olly Oxen Free” which is a catchy ukele driven pop song. The recommendation for that album is “Landscapes” which is much more mature, dreamy, and heartfelt. You can download it here at her website here for free or just “Name-Your-Price”. Gregory and The Hawk is currently on tour and only has a few shows left so check her out if you’re local!
