Check out London multi-instrumentalist Auclair‘s head-spinning Semaphore EP. Using an arsenal of analogue keys, field recordings and a kitchen sink approach to percussion, Auclair has crafted four songs of pure cosmic wonder. ‘Mersea Mersea Me’ opens with the odd clanking of moored ships, before blasting through atmospheres of deep, psychy bass and deliciously off-kilter harmonies. ‘Jupiter + Venus’ buzzes and shimmers with static energy woven into velvety folds of cello and synth bubbles. The CD comes enclosed in a beautiful concertina picturebook designed by artist Sarah Tanat-Jones, resembling a screen-printed Venn diagram or Penguin book cover from the ’60s.
