Paul Wackers really likes to focus on the little things in life. Currently living in Brooklyn, Wackers paints images of the items that fill the spaces in our world. His first solo exhibition was at Toronto’s Narwhal Projects, entitled Almost Somewhere. His paintings shuffle images of reality into collages of rich colors, shapes and patterns. He states that his work offers a chance to reinterpret the world, and most notably depict arrangements of partially discernible items on shelves. Wackers often incorporates lots of geometric and abstract elements and layers, and his art serves as a metaphor for society’s obsession with material objects and the relationship we have with them.
