PHOTO: WW2 SHIPS SPROUT FLOATING FORESTS

Tree Ship
Forget about shipbreaking and selling it for scrap–make them a floating nature conservatory. These are WWII cargo ships rusting at¬†Homebush Bay in Sydney, Australia. They were initially slated for dismantling that apparently has yet to take place. It is an interesting solution for intractable problems of urban decay.¬†In rust belt cities in the U.S. you see the architectural version of these abandoned hulks as a grim reminder of the death of American manufacturing. It might be interesting if artists also cloak them in nature. It might be our next graffiti.
