Brake for Monkeylectric’s LED Bike Lights:
Monkeylectric is spinning its way into the LED market by providing you with a device that you can stick to the spokes of your bike and entertain those you may ride past. Hopefully you are not too busy entertaining yourself because you should definitely be looking at the road. Yikes!
They offer three different products made from solid rubber to meet the demands of year-round usage. These devices are geared (yes, terrible puns all article) for resistance to cracking, scratching, clouding, water, dirt, and probably nuclear fall-out.
The products they currently offer are the Monkeylight M210, M232, and the monkeylectric Pro. These range from 10 LEDs, 32 LEDs, to the Pro’s 256 LEDs. While the first two contain the same amount of colors at 64 colors the Pro rips past its predecessors at lightning speed with 4096 colors! The Pro is also the only set-up that gives you freedom to use custom artwork or any other image/animations you may like. So, get to figuring out which cartoon character you think people forgot or do not even know about to give yourself the cred you obviously deserve for having one of these things.
With all the pro’s of the Pro there is one thing that may cause you to back-pedal(see): its eight hour battery life. Although, that is roughly 144 miles you can travel before recharging the lithium ion battery in the next state…that is if you do not constantly get stopped on your journey by the curious wondering what the hell Grape Ape’s face is doing blowing a bubble on your fixie’s front wheel and then popping on the back.
The monkeylectric Pro is currently available only on Kickstarter and has been displayed at SXSW, EuroBike, and a few other places. Go, check it out here.
