If you aren’t careful too much cake can be deadly. One glance at what a cake made by Scott Hove looks like and indulging in the sweet may seem more dangerous than ever; not because of the calorie count. These “cakes” aren’t actually baked, but rather created using thick and creamy gels of acrylic with standard pastry bags and cake decorating tools; instead of the standard cake toppers like a bride and groom, balloons, or a popular cartoon, they’re are topped with guns. Each “piece” is delicately decorated with frosting, icing and fruit garnish, giving the menacing weapons a tasteful makeover. These gun cakes, part of his “Guns and Ecstasy” series, are just a small offering of what Scott Hove has in terms of faux baked goods, he has entire collection of other-wordly cake creations called “Cakeland”, which dates back to 2005 and is available to browse here.
