This art installation displays thousands of red roses as they age from freshly cut, vibrant flowers to dying, muted plants. Artist Anya Gallacio hopes to capture the transformation from life to death. Noticeable is the contrast of the flowers against the stark white studio. This unique artistic seems to be symbolic of life and death and a statement on how life changes from moment to moment. The viewer may have a different experience viewing the installation depending on whether they see it at the beginning when the flowers are brightest or whether they see it towards the end when the flowers are fading. Gallacio’s Red On Green installation demonstrates how the viewer’s experience may change from moment to moment the way life may transform each individual person on a day to day basis.
