In a truly bizarre and striking fashion, bacon is the focus of the newest series by Monica Malewska, and for many things she insists, it can be used. Inspired by Rorshach’s ink blot tests, bacon is paired both with ornamental flowers and butterflies, and a haunting human skull that wears a never ending smile. Bacon is turned into fabric; it becomes the cloth that covers the bare parts of a beautiful model, a bra (sans wearer), and the stripes on the American Flag.
In a more active piece bees fly right passed flowers and attack the bacon that lays before them as if it’s grease was the pollen they so desperately need. Perhaps the most arresting, is a scene featuring nude male dolls atop ponies, wielding automatic weapons, and tangled in bacon. Cooked or uncooked, in this world bacon is everywhere, and looks just as appetizing as it tastes.
