DESIGN: MOLECULAR CHAIR

ANTONIO PIO SARACINO MOLECULAR CHAIR

Antonio Pio Saracino’s “Molecular Chair” stands at the crossroads of science and design. Inspired by the view seen beneath a microscope, the seating piece replicates what is invisible to the human eye. Produced by Italian manufacturer Polimodel, the baroque styled chair utilizes wire frame mesh covered with balls made from recycled wool. The multi-sized and multi-colored “molecules” are then stitched together and serve as the chair’s layer of cushioning.
