ART: PHONE BOOTHS OF SAO PAULO

I’m at a pay phone,… and it looks like a 19th century village...” If you were in Sao Paulo recently that may have been the song you were singing. Rather than leave the graffitied and decrepit phone booths as unappealing eyes sores in a beautiful city, Vivo, a Brazillian telecommunications company, turned them into tourist attractions.  This “Call Parade”  is a public art project, which gave one hundred artists the chance to transform one hundred phone booths into disco balls, the human brain, and of course, turtle shells. You can see them all at callparade.com.
