Like a surrealistic dream, a piece by Peter Saul is challenging, fastidiously rendered, and very alive. He twists and turns everyday objects until they’re barely recognizable. Takes an extremely famous face and marries it to a contorted and bare body, creating scenes, stories, and punch lines that are fantastic, excruciatingly vivid, and often obscene. A native of San Francisco and alum of San Francisco Art institute, Saul’s work speaks for itself and it’s always loud.
