Artist Alexa Meade turns people and objects into paintings. Soon after graduating from Vassar College, NY, Meade began experimenting with painting on non-traditional objects despite never having enrolled in an advanced painting class. With broad brushstroke, she applies paint on her models’ faces and bodies and fabricates additional shadows on cheekbones and above eyebrows. Then, she photographs them. The three-dimensional tableau appears as an oil painting in the photograph and most are convinced of its effect although it is a live installation.
