"KATRINA" ON AUGUST 29TH 2005, HURRICANE KATRINA HIT THE SOUTHEASTERN OF THE UNITED STATES, CAUSING SEVERE AND EXTENSIVE DAMAGE. THE WORST NATURAL DISASTER IN AMERICAN HISTORY, KILLING OVER ONE THOUSAND PEOPLE. LARGE SECTIONS OF THE LEVEE SYSTEM ON THE SOUTH SHORE OF LAKE PONCHATRAIN IN NEW ORLEANS COLLAPSED CAUSING HEAVY FLOODING OVER MOST OF THE CITY. TENS OF THOUSANDS OF PEOPLE WERE EVACUATED, LEAVING NOTHING BUT A GHOST CITY IN RUINS AND FLOODED IN WATER. THE FUTURE OF THE CITY STILL LIES UNCERTAIN. IT WILL TAKE YEARS TO REBUILD AND ESTABLISH A NEW ORLEANS AGAIN. PHOTOGRAPHY BY Casper Balslev, DENMARK.
