Sydney based mixed media artist Jonathan Zawada has created work for a growing list of cool clients including Universal Music, Modular Records, The Presets, Wolfmother, BMW, Ksubi and General Pants. From fabric prints, animation and illustration to website design and book/magazine art direction, Zawada has met the needs of his clients whilst also contributing his strong artistic bearing.
His own work is constantly evolving in a number of routes; from video installations to paintings, he explores questions about visualizing his own virtual and daily experiences. Zawada’s more recent work includes bright psychedelic and conceptual landscapes derived from graph data and drawings that juxtapose the hyper-real with the conceptual. The work delves into ideas about reality and the temporary experiences involved with human existence.
Along with 20 other artists, Zawada’s most recent exhibition in Tokyo celebrated 11 years of art from the LA based creative skateboard brand Stacks. Zawada’s skateboard designs are vivid, colorful contributions involving typography and surreal imagery to great effect. Zawada is currently donating all proceeds of sales of his new publication GASBOOK POP! to The Red Cross towards the Japan Disaster Appeal.
