Quando Quango were a new wave dance group – or “project” – signed to Manchester’s Factory Records, home of the significantly more famous Joy Division. Yet gloomy Quando Quango were not. Rather, the group’s Anglo-Dutch mish-mash sparked a spirit of eclecticism – soul met disco met reggae met pop, all under the banner of New Wave. Above is perhaps QQ’s biggest hit, “Love Tempo”, a chanting, blaring, stomping party monster, if you will. Mad fer it.
