“A couple of years back, I used to work in a recordstore.
Without a doubt the single best thing about my job were the worktrips across the sea to swedish second hand recordstores. After all digging the crates for an hourly wage isn’t something everybody gets to do. On those trips I usually bought a lot of obscure vinyl for my own collection and one 12″ single from a german early eighties band; Warning was among them. When I got home, I instantly fell for their brand of psychedelic space disco with harsh almost blackmetal-like vocals. I acquired two¬†more of their releases through discogs and collector friends but still a few are missing. The two parted song featured here is from Warning‘s 1982 self titled debut album. We’ve sometimes used it as an opener for some of our own shows. It sets an ominous – almost evil – mood¬†perfectly. Warning’s more obvious inspiration for Nightsatan can be seen in the cover of our debut 7″ single Steel Diamond Part One. We showed the Warning album to the photographer, bought some red and blue lights and shut ourselves into a basement with a staircase. The end-result was nothing like Warning‘s album cover, but we kind of love it anyway. We think the time is ripe for somebody to put out Warning‘s two albums on cd and repressed vinyl. This band deserves wider recognition for being so totally out there in 1982. Can I have some more saxophone, please?”
