Internet Archaeology has turned its energies to a new project cataloging sound in a recording dubbed “Now That’s What I Call Midi.” Founded with the chief purpose of preserving what could be considered the first attempts at world-wide-web graphics (you know, right after Al Gore invented the internet?), IA’s new MIDI project offers up a helping of by-gone audio pie that can be yours for a mere twenty-five bucks.
Spoofing heavily the wide success of the “Now That’s What I Call Music” series, IA offers you the chance to be the proud owner of a full length 12’ EP containing sixteen hits from the 1990’s (think Ace of Base, Nirvana, Eminem and Jay-Z) converted from MIDI format to hipper-than-hip then (and hipper now) vinyl. Open to those willing to pledge the project before January 9th, you too can have your very own piece of recent pop-culture history. A limited edition of 500 will be pressed and will showcase original cover art by graphic artist Tabor Robak.
Come on now – how many times have you secretly wished you could play midi Backstreet Boys on your turntable? The dream is finally yours! Thank you, Internet Archaeology! Get it today!
