Soft Powers- I began to cringe at eight ten
Personally, I’m happy to be alive during the 21st century heyday of fuzzy throwback dreamrock, because ‘synthesized doom-blear’ is a phrase I love being able to impart to bands in that vein. Atlanta-based artbros Soft Powers are doing a good job of crafting a slew of EPs with a rock-and-roll skeleton and lots of slowly-unfolding casiotronic psych-gaze layers to soften it all up. ‘The Baby Blue House Sessions’ is a just-under-30-minute escape to the chilled-out neon nightclub of your dreams, where two whiskeys in you discover the seamless combination of psychedelic jam-guitar and sad steady electronica you never before thought was possible, especially with a bassline like that. Check it out.
