Simplicity is sometimes overlooked to perpetuate the fast-paced and immediate sense of life we have become so accustomed to. Kyle Jorgensen’s art makes one slow down and reflect. The simple shapes, colours and dimensions in his work illustrate the kind of forward-thinking art many artists create today; that is to say, juxtaposing the bare background with an intense, almost three dimensional colour piece in the foreground. But there is something nostalgic about Jorgensen’s work. They remind me of great album covers for great bands that don’t need something flashy to say how awesome truly are. Jorgensen has give us his muted art work and we don’t need to be told that it is pretty awesome.
