It’s been quite a year for the band Yuck. First it was the debut single, “Georgia,” next on the list was the 4-song EP, Weakend, and then landing on one of indie rock’s most influential and well-respected labels, Fat Possum Records. Finally, their self-titled debut album is so close to being released, we can almost touch it with the tips of our fingers: February 15th, 2011.
Yuck is the grungy, messy noise that’s so addictive it’s like MSG to your Chinese food: oh-so delicious, tantalizing and not without an aftermath that leaves you aching. Even their brand of pop (the single “Georgia,” for example), is drenched in heavy guitar and bass driven cacophony that post-rock geniuses, Mogwai, took notice and remixed Yuck’s first single, “Rubber,” off their forthcoming album. The result? A fuzzy, distorted trip into the type of bliss that, well, there are no words for to be quite frank.
The United Kingdom has it made with Yuck making the rounds in their ‘hood over the next two months… the rest of the world is going to have to wait a little longer.
