Guest Post from Anderw of CUFFS:
Fan Modine are a mysterious group – two full length albums released over the last 13 years with a third on the horizon, to me they are the epitome of sophisticated pop. Lush arrangements that steer clear of baroque. Crisp, intelligent songwriting. Cool and detached vocals that are at the same time beautiful and heartfelt. All of this filtered through a obvious love of the pop genre – from Flying Nun to Bacharach to Merritt and Blunstone. I was 16 when I first witness the band – opening for Sleater Kinney and Helium, an odd pairing but hey, it was the late ’90s. I’ve been in love since.
