As a commercial photographer, Muir Vidler’s clients have included some huge names: The New York Times, Vogue, Vanity Fair. He’s shot Nick Cave, P. Diddy, and was even commissioned by the President of the Maldives to get some candid shots.
But then there’s his personal work… whether its the outtakes of a commissioned job or something he’s dreamed up on his own, you can tell when Vidler’s shooting pics for himself. His shots speak to his willingness to be awesome and have a good time. His photography portrays a sense of life that is irresponsible, sleazy, irreverent, and full of rock n’ roll, as if Vidler wakes up every morning just nearly having made it to the glamorous side of the gutter. His prolific body of photography is infused with an energy that’s manic and fun, with the grittiness of a hangover, and the promise that you’ll do it again.
