Jonny Negron’s art is somewhat terrifying. These illustrations of curvaceous women in (posed) compromising positions feature the female body in an overtly but powerful sexual way. Not all of the images are of these women straddling bikes or giant black, veiny hands but these are the most striking. A comic book illustrator/writer as well, Negron blends the two forms together to make these wonderful powerful but cartoonish pieces of work. With vivid colours and rich looking textures, these pictures demonstrate the features of sex and sexuality without really showing it. They play into sexual impulses and what turns the viewer on; stimulating what stimulates you without really showing it. It’s a clever and well-conceived idea that produces stunning pieces of work.
