Swedish artist Christopher Golebiowski is a triple threat in terms of art. He utilizes multimedia for animation, is a photographer and, moreover, a focused drawer/artist. Based in Gothenburg, Sweden, Golebiowski creates rather startling pieces of work, especially drawn pieces, that invoke a child/adult hybrid in one picture. By creating images that look crudely drawn, amateurish in nature—quite child-like—and pairing that with adult themes of dismemberment, revenge, sex and more, Golebiowski creates an daring imagery. He pairs American cultural images from the late 1980s, early 1990s with this style to highlight their silliness or subvert the traditional view of them, such as the strength in Chuck Norris or the safety in Robocop. To see a European artist capture American cultural notes and challenge their predominant viewpoints with child-like drawings only enhances his motive by illustrating their childishness in it.
