“Dystopian” is the word that comes to mind then looking at these photos. The power plants are the focus of these, and none of them every show anything else, keeping everything in the harsh tones of black and white. It just goes to show how industrialized things are becoming now. Smoke and concrete and emptiness. Michael Kenna manages to get such a powerful feeling of isolation and quiet to emanate from these photographs, making them powerful in their simplicity.
They’re definitely worth a closer look, you can find the rest of his gallery here.
