It’s safe to say that lo-fi fuzz has made its comeback this summer with the likes of Wavves and Best Coast taking over iPods and record players everywhere. Indulging in this renaissance era of west coast garage rock are The Clanging Dolphins, who hail from Oregon and have clearly adopted some of their region’s infamous graininess in their sound. Track “Ladies Upstairs” clocks in at a quick and dirty one minute and a half and screams 90′s grunge era with its distorted vocals and commanding drums. “Haunted Hives” picks up the beat a little bit, and “One Horse Town” works an organ into the mix, giving it a sinister charm reminiscent of the glory days of garage rock. The band has a 7 ” coming out in the fall on Malt Duck Records.
