Dear Candy Claws:
Let us always drown in your sound, lush and comforting like a thick velvet blanket that we’ve had too long and loved too much. Haunt our dreams with your delicate melodies, and let us drift away in your ocean of words, and hide in your palatial forest. No matter where you go, the world over, please always let us follow: you are the soundtrack to our summer afternoons, our emotions amplified and frosting on our favorite bittersweet cupcake.
Thank you in advance.
Hidden Lands is the second album from Fort Collins, Colorado eight-piece band, Candy Claws. The album is a “musical companion” to Richard M. Ketchum’s book, The Secret Life of the Forest, a forest ecology book that was originally published by the American Heritage Press in 1970. By pulling lyrics from paragraphs within the book and using translation software, Candy Claws were able to recreate words and manipulate them into other versions of themselves giving Hidden Lands sounds and lyrics all its own.
Similarly to their first album, In the Dream of the Sea Life, Hidden Lands is originally enchanting and impresses upon the listener a level of fuzzy bliss that one can’t shake for days, if one should want to shake it, but that’s highly unlikely.
