Bobb Trimble: forgotten psych-folk legend

EL bob trimble b 270x300 Bobb Trimble: forgotten psych folk legend

Bobb Trimble is a cult outsider folk musician from Marlborough, MA. He released two LPs in the ’80s, Iron Curtain Innocence, and Harvest of Dreams, both of which commercially bombed. Trimble had landed in the wrong decade. His concoction of folk-rock, psychedelia, fragile vocals and spacey sound effects belonged in the 70s.¬†Over the next two decades Trimble’s status as a cult artist grew, his followers including Ariel Pink and Sonic Youth’s Thurston Moore. Trimble’s influence on Pink is tangible – the rich depth of instrumentation, harmonies and sound effects, and¬†their shared penchant for quavering falsettos. Trimble has gained more recognition in recent years; his recorded works were re-released by Secretly Canadian, home of Anthony and the Johnsons. Bobb has announced via his website that he and his new band, The Flying Spiders, are set to put on shows this year. More excitingly, new stuff might be in the works – ‘We’re recording Bobb’s first new material since the 1980s!’
