At first glance, it’s like a preserved acid trip. As if someone had taken a snapshot of what they were hallucinating at that moment. Jason Redwood‘s abstract paintings depict crazy colors that clash and scrape against each other, each wanting to be the one that jumps out at you most. Real elements mingle with the unreal in an open space. However, with further contemplation they seem to have a dark side waiting behind all that color. The acute morbidity shakes you out of the visual playground and grounds you in the real world, calling on you to stop for a moment, and just think.
