Canadian dream pop cynics Stars had been relatively quiet after the release of 2007′s In Our Bedroom After The War, but have freshened up and returned to the stage with their latest LP, The Five Ghosts. Prior to it’s June 22nd release, Amy Millan and company toured in support of their fifth full-length, reminding crowds why they got so into their hazy Saturday night love songs and broken heart scores in the first place. While some may consider playing ninety minutes of songs no one has ever heard before to fans with big expectations a risky endeavor, Stars aren’t exactly the type to take the path of least resistance. This is the band who had fans vote on which songs they’d play during their encores and handed 2004 album Set Yourself On Fire over to their fellow Canadian indie rock pals to do over, ultimately becoming remix album Do You Trust Your Friends? Currently making their way through Canada and the USA, (minus a stop in Arizona, which they are controversially boycotting in protest of the recent immigration law) Stars will visit Europe this fall and then return to North America for one last leg of The Five Ghosts tour. If you’re the skeptical type and missed them the first time around, be sure to check out their tour dates here, where you can also watch all five parts of their homemade “Making Of The Five Ghosts” series.
