Mat Sivertsen‘s invention: The subConch, an instrument played by force of the mind alone, may never replace the beauty of a million dollar Stradivarius, but it will excite the inner cyborg hiding in us all.  As Matt says, “By using the epoc head-set, which allows me cognitive control of my sound, I shape the sound and push it around changing things like pitch, reverb, wave shape, and modulation.”  It makes you wonder if this new type of musician will develop calluses somewhere deep in their brain.

Matt’s photography further explores this futuristic vein.  His collection called, myBorg: a cyborg manifested is a blending of the “now” and the “some day soon,” hopefully not too soon we will have a vacuum/companion option in our household appliances.
