The pairing of noisy punk and jazz is nothing new. Old Time Relijun effortlessly combined the two to general hatred and mockery in the early 00s and Arab on Radar have adopted and continued the tradition beautifully. For Killer Whales, though, this combination has provided a different reception. The Chicago band, though backed by a loyal fanbase, has remained relatively obscure, and, even though their music has escaped the confines of Illinois, they have yet to face a negative review. If you are craving what can only be described as “ravenous, terrible, and awesome shit-jazz-afro-punk,” head on down to Killer Whales’ MySpace Page and see firsthand what the hype is about.
