Brighton Massachusetts band Royal Hideouts blend dreamy pop, new wave and shoegaze to create their sound. Their influences include the Jesus and Mary Chain, Pilgrims, and Twin Peaks to name a few. Their songs are dreamy and at times slightly detuned giving them a strung out heroin feel. Royal Hideouts alternate between laid back reverbed drenched songs to faster new wave tracks with cool vintage electronic drum beats. Out of all the bands around these days coping the shoegaze sound in one form or another, I have to hand it to them these guys do it very well. Download their album “Pine Sharks” below.
