“Skin Fruit: Selections from the Dakis Joannou Collection” curated by Jeff Koons is will be up from 3/3/10-6/6/10 at New York’s New Museum of Contemporary Art. The show features art from 50 different artists spanning many decades. The art is from the collection of Dakis Joannou, renowned as one of the leading collectors of contemporary art in the world. This collection explores the human body, evolution, sexuality and original sin. Koons title for the show “Skin Fruit” explores the tensions between the interior and exterior, between what we see and what we consume. There are also interactive aspects to the show: a man will stage a religous ritual; white chocolate monuments appear above the visitors heads; and weird creatures eat each other while their bodies are buried or frozen.
