Fresh off the tour with Coldplay, Bat for Lashes’ Natasha Khan is doing a lot of, well, nothing. On the bands website, batforlashes.com, there are “No upcoming shows…Rest Time.” A lot of rest is defiantly needed for this band with a new special edition CD/DVD edition of the album Two Suns out, there was a lot of touring. In an interview with Pitchfork.com Natasha Khan was asked about her live show, “The visual thing is always about budget and money, which I didn’t get much of because my record company thought this album was not going to do very well [laughs]. What we did instead was get Ali Pike our lighting and stage designer, who’s just the coolest girl. So we have TVs all lit up, with lights inside them, and loads of candles and deer heads and like weird Texas kind of voodoo-ey stage props and things like that. Which I think looks beautiful, and that’s what we’re doing this time.” The pictures of Bat for Lashes performing with Coldplay have been posted on the bands site where you will be able to see the live show that Natasha was speaking of. The pictures and the outfits look like they are coming out of a fantasy novel rather than a concert. This is just how Natasha likes it; in the same interview with Pitchfork.com she talks about her upbringing and what she was exposed to when she was younger, “I was also really into strange fairytale stories from all over the world. I used to have Inuit fairytale books, and Nordic fairytales, and Greek mythology, and obviously the Bible and the Koran are two amazingly strange books [laughs] that I kind of got exposed to.” If you missed your chance to see Natasha and Bat for Lashes on their last tour, fear not they will be back, and this time with a new album. According to the bands manager, the new album will be released next year.
