There have been many incarnations of the band Matt Pond PA, but it’s Matt Pond, the singer/songwriter who started the group in Philadelphia in 1998, who has remained a constant.  As the main song writing force behind the group’s melodies, it’s Matt Pond’s sweet, and sometimes near heavenly voice that is the soul of the group.

Perfectly slotted between equally great bands, Hesta Prynn and Avi Buffalo, Matt Pond PA played the “AAM 2010 SXSW Extravaganza” at Austin’s Galaxy Room. Seven bands played the show, each one contributing about a 30-40 minute long set. While the band stuck mostly to new stuff, The Dark Leaves is due to come out the beginning of April, they also rocked the audience with older favorites like, “People Have a Way” from 2007’s Last Light.

The other bands who performed until the free Bud Light ran out  and the sun set:  Holy Fuck, Violent Soho, We Were Promised Jet Packs and Garotas Suecas.
